I am goiing to get the new blackberry Storm on a £35 a month contract. Are there any hidden costs here?

Other then the fact that you have to have a data plan — there are no hidden fee. What you may consider a hidden fee would be roaming charges that apply to your data transfers when you are out of your home area, which could be your province, your country, or something else. Those charges can be extremely high, but can be avoided by turning off data feature while traveling.
I know with some networks you have to add an additional Blackberry tariff which is basically your data tariff in addition to your basic talk plan but not sure if this applies to Vodafone (I’m assuming your contract is with them)….I’d double check it to be sure.
the upfront fee for the phone
and make sure you see for how many years u have to stay in the contract with them.
check insurance to make sure ure covered if stolen or if it has deffects
