How Long Does It Take Orange To Get A Blackberry Phone Fully Conifgured?

April 10, 2009

I had my Blackberry 6 hours ago and called up to activate it. Calls and texts work fine but i can’t even access the email options, the maps don’t work and my account info says i only have 20 inclusive texts left to send when i have 300. How long’s it take for all the configuration texts to come through?

Knowing Orange, they will manage to f+ck it up as usual.

It should just all automatically down load, check your ‘service book/log’ to see what has been configured, on the actual devise.
On another note, I have my Blackberry through AAPT. And it was a nightmare to get BIS. Eventually (and I am talking months) it just finally worked one day. AAPT couldn’t even figure out what it was that eventually worked.
They are a entity on thier own, and as the mobile providers to actually provide the Blackberry service it can be difficult to make sence of it all.
I have found the BlackBerry forums useful: http://www.blackberryforums.com.au

if its a new number it can take 12 to 24 hours if you’re transferring a existing number to a new SIM it can take 24 to 48 hours .
try turning the phone OFF then on again as that often stimulates the network to send the next configuration text.
the text figure may be because you are not in a complete billing month and its a pro-rata figure.
the email is left for YOU to configure its not done automatically by orange if you need help try an orange store or dial 150.
if there is any question you really need to call orange on 150 to sort this out.
I bet after this you wish you have bought the iphone and get automatic syncing and updates and configuration direct on your home computer!!

Got something to say?
