Is it leagal to track employees using their Blackberry phones issued by the employer?
If not, what legislation/parliamentary acts might such activities contravene?

    Yes it is.
Remember they’re not tracking you they’re tracking their property!

Allen’s right. They are tracking their property. By knowing where the phone is at all times, they will have a pin-point location on you. HOWEVER, they cannot hold this against you in the event of a arbitration or conflict. Unless they asked to personally track YOU, the phone’s built in GPS receiver is all they’re monitoring.

Good question, do you have a union rep? if so speak to him. In my opinion I would think it would contravene your human rights if you have not agreed to it.

That is illegal. It’s technically a form of stalking.

It is an invasion of your Human Rights. The right to private life under Human Rights Act 1998
